Chloe Emery, DVM : Veterinarian
Dr. Chole Emery is the lead veterinarian at two veterinary practices in the Jackson area. She brings a world of experience and caring to her practice. Originally from Jackson, Dr. Emery received her undergraduate degree and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University. Since her graduation in 2018, she practiced at and eventually purchased Northeast Animal Hospital — and then Northeast Animal Hospital.
Dr. Emery and her husband Gray have one son, and an award-winning English Bulldog named Vito. She is an accomplished equestrienne and has won numerous ribbons in competitions. During her free time, she enjoys cooking, tennis, pickleball, fishing and riding horses at her grandparents’ farm in Vaughan, MS.
Kirby Sills, DVM : Veterinarian
Dr. Kirby Sills is an associate veterinarian with Northeast Animal Hospital and head veterinarian at Cypress Point Resort in Brandon. He holds a degree in Veterinary Medicine from Mississippi State University in 1979 and Louisiana State University in 1984.
Dr. Sills has unique experience in many aspects of veterinary care, including general practice, emergency medicine, zoological and exotics. Dr. Sills is highly regarded for his expertise with exotic animals, and his skills are in demand each summer in some of the most breathtaking parts of the country, including the Yellowstone and Teton regions of Wyoming. There he helps train and manage bison herds and monitor other wildlife. He also consults with many zoos in the U.S.
During his career, Dr. Sills taught emergency veterinary medicine at Mississippi State University for 16 years and for 14 years taught at the Hinds Community College Veterinary Technological program. Dr. Sills and his wife Suzanne live in Gluckstadt. In his spare time, he enjoys tinkering with a Toyota truck project, traveling to many zoos throughout the year for continuing education.
Kayla Collins, DVM : Veterinarian
Dr. Kayla Collins’ love for animals began early, growing up on her family’s farm in Quitman, where she showed cattle through the 4-H program. That lifelong passion led her to Mississippi State University, where she completed both her undergraduate studies and her veterinary degree at the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016.
Over the past decade, Dr. Collins has cared for pets and their families in both Hattiesburg and Jackson. Her professional interests include feline medicine, soft tissue surgery, and emergency and critical care. She also has a special place in her heart for new puppy and kitten visits and loves helping families start their journey with a new furry companion.
Dr. Collins and her husband, Clint, first met back in Quitman during their 4-H days. Today, they’re busy raising their two children, Lila (7) and Lincoln (18 months), along with their beloved pets — Gus, an 11-year-old black Lab, and Cinder, a 12-year-old black cat.
Savannah Lewis : General Manager
Savannah is the person everyone needs around — organized, energetic and always ready to help. She grew up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and started my career in “human” medicine.
“This is where my love for helping people stems, but I always had a desire to work with animals. I joined the Northeast Animal Hospital family in January 2022 as a receptionist and now oversee operations for both Lakeland and Northeast Animal Hospital.
“I love that I get to combine my passion for helping people all while loving on our pet patients and ensuring things run smoothly so they receive the best care we can give.”
When not at the clinic, she enjoys gardening, baking, crafts, and loving on her own fur babies! She and her husband have two children.
Amber Donald : Manager/Lead Technician
Amber has been in the “vet world” for 15 years, 13 of those as a Vet Tech. “I have experience in general practice as well as emergency medicine.” She and her husband Jason — 12 years married —have a sweet six-year-old boy named Peyton. “We currently live in Lena and I love the country lifestyle!” She also enjoys spending time with family, riding four wheelers, and laughing with friends.
Jessica Stagg : Veterinary Technician
Jessica is a Certified Veterinary Technician with a genuine love for animals and a passion for helping animals them receive “the care they deserve. My goal is always to make both pets and their families feel safe, comfortable, and cared for.”
She has been a vet tech since 2015. When not working, Jessica enjoys spending time with her fiancé and daughter, along with their two dogs and a cat, all of which rule the household. She said, “I’m honored to be part of a profession that allows me to make a difference in the lives of animals and the families who love them.”
Riley Hopkins : Veterinary Technician
Riley was drawn to veterinary work from her high school days. “My passion for veterinary medicine began at age 16 when I started working as a kennel technician during summers in high school. I went on to attend Mississippi State University’s Veterinary Technology Program, graduating in 2022 and becoming a licensed Certified Veterinary Technician.”
She is also passionate about serving her community through high-quality care for pets and their families. Outside of work, she is mom to two young boys and a black Lab named Moose. She said, “I’m also blessed with an amazing husband who supports me in both my career and family life.”
Setera Brantley : Technician Assistant
Setera started her career in early childhood education but said she found “my calling in veterinary medicine and love spending my days caring for pets and educating their families.” She is the mother of two boys.
Zach Moore : Kennel Manager
Zach has been with the Northeast Animal Hospital team for almost ten years as a kennel technician. He lives in Canton with his two children, Zoey and Roman, and has a Schnauzer-Poodle mix pup named Scrappy. Zach is an all-around guy who loves to make clients and his coworkers laugh.
Jamaal Gordon : Kennel Technician
Jamaal has been in the veterinary field for more than ten years. “I like to consider myself a gentle giant that will always put the safety of your pet first,” he said.
Emily Watson : Lead Receptionist
Emily describes herself as a happy and energetic person. “As an animal lover, I feel I am in a great position to be able to love on everyone’s fur babies.” In her time away from Northeast Animal Hospital, she enjoys being with her husband and little girl, Millie.
David Lowe : Groomer
David Lowe has been a groomer for more than 20 years, and we are so happy to have him here with us at Northeast Animal Hospital. His first job was at a vet office, and he started grooming from there. His pet is Gumbo, a male French Bull Dog. “Working with pets and raising my two sons gives me joy,” he said.
Brittney Thames : Groomer
Brittney has been working with animals since 2005 and moved into grooming in 2021. She enjoys riding horses in her free time.
Miki Day : Groomer
Miki Day began her grooming journey as an apprentice to our own expert groomer Liz Comacho here at Northeast Animal Hospital and after eight years, she is back to beautify pets of all sizes — from the tiniest pups to our biggest furry friends.
